Download English grammar and irregular verbs reference to your computer

Using English offers two free software programs to make the lives of English students easier. The first one is English Language Glossary Browser, with a comprehensive list of grammar terms. The glossary will be useful for learners of all levels since it explains how to use each language function from basic to advanced, and even presents cross-reference entries for further learning.

After you download the software you’ll need to unzip it. In the unzipped folder, click GLOSSARY to install.

The other program is Irregular Verb List Viewer which shows the past and participle forms for a ton of English verbs, as well as the verb definitions.

This one also needs to be unzipped after downloading. To install, open the unzipped folder and click on SETUP (Setup Launcher.)

Grammar Central: basic English grammar lessons and exercises

basic English grammarA cool place for students who want to review basic English grammar: Grammar Central has 40 topics with lessons and exercises including pronouns, verb to be, irregular verbs, simple  presente, plural, questions, simple past and more.

And there’s more: in the left menu, click on Crazy English for idioms, vocabulary and more exercises, Terrible Teacher for more grammar and tests and on Flashed ESL for animated lessons (the highlight is the exercise on English prepositions of place / location on the upper right corner.)

Learn English is a huge website with a ton of stuff for pre-intermediate and basic English students - here’s a sample of what you’ll find:basic English

In Grammar, lessons on several topics of the English language, most of them with pictures and a few online exercises.

In Vocabulary, a big vocabulary list sorted out into topics, with pictures and pronunciation (click on the pictures to listen);

In Pronunciation, find the English alphabet + several examples for practice;

With Dictation, you’ll be able to study a vocabulary topic, then listen to the dictation and you’ll be able to evaluate your spelling skills.

In Exercises you’ll find an index of grammar, vocabulary and reading exercises;

There’s a whole lot more - it’s worth checking out if you want to see lots of basic English stuff in one place.

At the end of the episodes, click on the links for several review exercises, including speaking and writing activities.

Very cool if you want to review basic English skills while reading, and also for English teachers looking for new classroom materials. The episodes and exercises aren’t in PDF or Word format, but are easily printable. No audio.
